Department of Extension

Overview

The Department of Extension is an integral unit of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Services dedicated to the promotion, development and conduct of community outreach program and extension services within and outside the immediate environs of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology.

Vision

A nerve center for effective and responsive extension services which enable the people to unleash their potentials and improve their lives and contribute to the task of human liberation.

Objectives

• To conduct home, trade and technology-related trainings, agri-based skills trainings, entrepreneurial trainings, and other non-formal education classes (like basic and functional literacy) on campus and off-campus.
• To offer and conduct continuing education program for development officers, extension workers, and other professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills in their respective fields of specialization.
• To package and disseminate matured technologies which are beneficial to farmers, fisherfolks, homemakers, unemployed adults, out-of-school-youths (OSYs), special children and adults, and professionals.
• To identify and adopt selected barangays for enterprise formation, technology-transfer and community mobilization and development.
• To extend technical assistance or expertise to government and non-government organizations needing such technical assistance.
• To undertake on-campus and off-campus trainings, seminars, conferences, programs and projects designed to bring about community awareness of social and political issues, and for aesthetic enrichment and cultural development.
• To develop alternative teaching learning methods or strategies for various client groups such as tri-media, etc.
• To coordinate extension services with participating cost centers and develop policies and guidelines for maximum faculty/staff support to extension programs and community outreach activities.
