MSU-IIT’S Research Mandate

“To initiate and undertake projects and studies which bear on the manpower needs, the industrial growth of Iligan and other development projects including those needed by the specific industries and environs.” (MSU Charter: R.A. 5385)

The Department of Research

The Department of Research (DR) is the unit tasked to stimulate, assist, fund, manage, coordinate and evaluate the research activities of the Institute. It was first established in September 1975 as the Department of Applied Research and Adaptive Technology (DARAT) and evolved to become the Coordination Center for Research and Development in 1988. In the reorganization of the Mindanao State University System, it was named the Department of Research under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension.

The vision to improve the research organization and culture of the Institute includes action programs to review the existing research policies, to design and implement a research incentive scheme, to establish linkages with more research-granting institutions, and fund sourcing to finance internally-funded researches and the research incentive program.

Along this, the mission and objectives of the DR are set for the succeeding years.

Mission

To provide training, technical and research services that will enhance the region’s capability to harness its full potentials for equitable and sustainable development and to promote a “research culture” among the faculty, staff and students of the Institute.
